February 16, 2012 Honorable Governor Christie: You are known as a governor unafraid to take bold, decisive action in the interests of sound judgment. You’ve been noted for your deft ability to elude criticism on the explosive issue of marriage. The hour is late and the moment is urgent, so I am going to speak bluntly to the governor. The one merit that gives the Republican party victory is unity. And you’re going to stand there as two Senators from own your party break ranks and vote for this garbage? This is unacceptable. You might have won the good graces of religious Jews and other conservatives alike. Don’t blow it. Don’t let control of your party slip through your fingers. You were given your authority for a reason. Act on it and hold your members – all of them – from going any further. You called for a statewide referendum on marriage. This should not be up for a vote. There should be absolutely no question that the only relationship to be recognized by the state is that of a man and a woman. I’m getting this from the foundation of all civilization, the Torah, which has been guarded by the Jewish people for thousands of years. The One G-d in Heaven and on earth, Who has given His blessing New Jersey, says so. You don’t have to be religious to know that marriage was designed by G-d Almighty as the vehicle for new souls to enter the world. Thank you for acting to protect the ideals that have made America strong. Respectfully submitted,Dovid Z.
