TAOS, June 6, 2010 – As the worst oil spill in history flooded the gulf of Mexico, an even greater environmental hazard was halted with the passing of “rebel” actor Dennis Hopper. Mr. Hopper had been polluting the hearts and minds of American youth for the past six decades in motion pictures. He was 74.
Mr. Hopper earned notoriety for his film portrayals of an unkempt motorcycle enthusiast in “Easy Rider” and as a bad-mannered rapist in “Blue Velvet.” He was naturally gifted with an ability to play violent, unstable drug abusers.
Experts observe that Mr. Hopper had been one of the greatest producers of toxic fumes leaking into the mainstream motion picture industry. The minds of countless viewers, young and old, have been contaminated by images of reckless drug use and self-absorbed violence embodied by Mr. Hopper. It is hoped that the figure of a frail Mr. Hopper stooped from prostate cancer before his demise might serve to plug up any future outpourings.
